GO TO SEE THIS!!!! Crazy Watchman!
One of my favorite fish in my tank is my Watchman Goby. Why do you ask? Well. This guy is so unpredictable!
I lost track of him for the last couple of weeks so I thought he bit the big one died. I looked everywhere and I could not find him. So this weekend I'm finally getting around to the next stage in my new plumbing and notice this!!!!! watman2.jpg Oh wait can't see it???? Take a closer look here!!! LOL Watchmen3.jpg Now... Just so you know what he had to go through in order to get there Alive!!! First off... He would have had to skeeze throught the teeth on my coast to coast overflow. Then we need to figure out what drain he used. I have 3 drains. The first drain is a Full siphon but draws very little water... This is not likely the roller coaster ride he chose. The second drain is really the main drain that has the most flow through it and it has a filter sock on the end!!! This is probably the one he went down. The Third drain is the emergency drain... He would have has to jump into this drain. So let's assume he went down the main drain which is #2. This one is passed through a filter sock, then into a small area in my sump than contains my large skimmer, 1 NP Pellet reactor and not very much room. He would have had to figure to go through the baffles and then again in the pitch dark find a spot to live in. Remarkable. This guy is crafty! Should I move him back in the Display? He seems happy here and he is fatter than ever!!! he is in copepod heaven I think! Here's a picture of my entire sump. Might give a better idea of the plumbing involved. Sorry... got lots of stuff in the way. sump overview.jpg |

I think I'ld just leave him be, as long as he seems happy and healthy and is eating well. What a crazy journey he must have had.

thats hilarious! glad you love your watchman.
i like mine too except that it almost never comes out, causes mini sand storms at the sight of a human, and since it ate a lot of micro critters. |

I have a lawwnmower blenny that I "rescued" from my sump once, he was back the next day. How he gets through the skimmer still baffles me.

I had a buddy who had a neon goby that made it down the drain, into the sump, into the Reef Octopus Extreme 200 skimmer (with pinwheel) and BACK into the display tank!!! (through a Mag Drive 1800!!!!)
Totally crazy!

I have a neon goby and peppermint shrimp that live in the overflow of my 180.
I've pulled them out of there 3-4 times each, and the next day they are right back in there again. They have lived back there for 3-4 months now.

I guess it just goes to show that we may build them what we think is the perfect habitat for them and they find a different place to hang out.
