45 Cube Equipment Opinions/Suggestions.

OK. The tank build is coming along pretty well overall. I've been going a lot slower with this tank, and for the past few months have been trying to think about every aspect and planning each part out.

Most pieces of the build have been bought/made already, but I have a few things left. (And due to my amazing salary and the need [and desire ] to save for the wedding coming up, I need to go slow with the remaining..)

Keeping in mind this is going to be an SPS focused mixed tank, I'd just like to get some opinions on what order you think I should buy them.

A. Autotopoff.com dual switch unit ATO unit.

B. Carbon Reactor

C. GFO Reactor

D. LED lighting (Powerbrite strips, for mostly supplementation)

E. Dosing. (IE 2 part and possibly Calc Reactors/Litermeter, etc)

I already have the tank, lights, skimmer, vortech, controller, return pump, etc.. Just looking for some input on the above.

Thanks in advance.

your order looks good to me. i have to say that a dosing pump has kept my tank supper stable, no missed days no user error etc. but its a luxury not a need.

I would get (A) and (E) first. I think it's better to establish stable water parameters.
GFO and carbon can be added according to the livestock and bioload later.

Thanks for the help. I actually didn't put them in any particular order. I think the ATO should be first but the rest aren't really in order

let's focus a bit more on the dosing. Does anyone use the BRS dosers? They're much cheaper than a Litermeter dosing system. (Pardon my 'newbieness' with dosing, as I have almost zero experience and haven't read much yet [that will change soon].)

I use BRS dosers and I love them. I have 4. 2 for 2 part, and the other two for vodka and MB7. I would definitly look into getting a digital aquatics reef keeper lite. You can easily control everything on your tank, including your dosing pumps. They only cost $100. I even control my waste bucket from my skimmer. If the valve is tripped then it shuts off my skimmer. I also have my skimmer on a delay, just in case my power goes off my skimmer won't turn on for a minute so that my sump is at the right level.

I would sign up for a BRS group buy and get two for cheaper. Easy decision now between the bubble magnus doser and the BRS dosers.

where is the group buy you speak of? Also, do you have to buy more than one?

The group buys happen on reefcentral. Just type in BRS group buy in the search tab. You would need two for 2 part. One for ALK and one for CA.
