RO/DI-OK, I obviously have this hooked up wrong or something? Vibrating *PIC*
I have checked to make sure this is hooked up right about a hundred times.... I'm guessing its not or something is very wrong because when I turn on the source water and it sits with pressure on the valve for a few minutes, the pressure on the guage drops to 0psi and the whole thing vibrates, then the pressure goes back up. It just keeps doing this but the waste water never stops.
What am I doing wrong??? |

+1 to above. How about your check valve, did you double check the flow direction?
maybe you can post here too to get a faster response http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=229 Last edited by nano427; 04/01/2010 at 11:31 PM. |

Everything seems fine.
Did you put the check valve in the right direction between the in membrane ?

you've tried running it without the shut-off valve? So that you know that the RO/DI system works properly?

Pressure is 52psi.
The company I bought this ASO off of told me the check valve was not needed with my system so I don't have one..... Do I need a check valve? Is that my problem? |

Probably best just to call the 800# listed. If you haven't already.

U need the check valve between the auto shut-off and the membrane. When it's full, the shut off close the system but you have to make sure it doesn't backflow in the membrane. That's why you have to put a check vavle, if not the pressure is gonna backflow and that's probably what causing the vibration. At least, that's how I understand the system works.

I called and talked to them about another issue and the guy was terrible at customer service! Basically told me I was full of crap about the TDS in my R.O. water... They finally sent me a new membrane and D.I. after I bought one from another company.
There's NO WAY I'm gonna call them for this problem.... I'd rather turn the source water on and off or just get a timer! |

From that diagram... I'm hooked up wrong. But from everyone elses diagrams I'm right. They have the R.O. out of the Membrane going to the out ine the valve and the IN is hooked to the D.I.?? Looks backwards to me? |

Here are some pictures of how mine is set up
Out is on the left, In is on the right The top "Out" on the valve is split. 1 goes to pressure gauge, other goes to the "In" on the RO membrane. The bottom "Out" goes to the DI canister. The top "In" comes from the last prefilter before the RO membrane. The bottom "In" comes from the "Out" on the RO membrane. Also note the "T" fitting on the bottom "In" hose. It goes to an electronic TDS meter to help indicate the effectiveness of the membrane. Hope that helps. |

you might want to check the flow restrictor
