3 1/2 foot tall tank

I just aquired a 3 1/2 foot tall, cylinder acrylic tank. What kind of light would it take to make it to the bottom? I was thinking 400 watt metal halide, but is it enough?

400's should be plenty of light. Just put your corals with less light requirements at the bottom.
