Sometimes you have to take everything out of your tank, but there is a pop bottle trick somewhere on here that they say works. But ya Good Luck

Buy a fish trap.....it may take a few days, just bait it and wait. You will probably catch several a day.

Sometimes if the lights are out and it's dark, if you turn them on it will stun the fish for a second or two. You might be able to grab one then. It would probably take a while though.

Had to get an agressive damsel out and didn't want to tear down my reef, so
I tried the fishing method first, then net catching, then night and nothing worked. then I built a trap out of acrylic scrap, 3 days and a lot of patience and the damsel is back at the LFS.

the easiest solution is to catch them at night when it's dark and there caught unawares. If you can reach them while they sleep, i'd simply do that. If you can't manage that, a fish trap is the least intrusive solution, but that will certainly take a lot of patience with that many fish.

catching fish
A size 28 fly fishing hook with the barb smashed down baited with a small piece of shrimp. You can catch them without harm and release them .

if you buy a trap, make sure the door is made of glass, its a bit heavier than the plastic one and slams shut when the opportunity arises. i bought a cheap one with a plastic door that took a body builder to close, ended up buying another one and caught every fish i wanted out of the tank. tried every tip, method, prayer, nothing worked but the last resort, fish trap.

I know this question is on everyone's mind, and it's killing me, I have to ask it. Sorry if you didn't want to delve here. May I ask WHY, you have 8 damsels and 3 or 4 clowns? It's not important, but, just wondering.

Was thinking the same thing..
BUT.. get a net and a specimen container. Chase them with the net into the container. Viola. |

Ive always used 2 nets to catch anything i needed to, scare them with one net into the other takes time and patience, but it works, just like herding sheep.
