ok i think i need to mention that this is just holding baffles not the thank together so the strenght i wouldnt think is a huge factor.
but with that said i think ill look into the rtv 108 just for aquarium safe purpose. where/how do i get it?

Friendly neighborhood Grainger will have it. It is ~10 bucks a tube. Good luck with your baffles. Incidentally, baffles do need structural support: despite what some might say, an adhesive is still called for. Granted, the strength of RTV100 series is not absolutely necessary, and the two DC products would work for this, but I use the RTV for everything. The RTV skins over fairly quickly, so you don't have a lot of time to mess with it. Lower ambient temp and humidity will give you some wiggle room.

ok well i went to my lfs today and bought a 30 gallon which is just 1 gallon bugger than my 29 gallon sump but its 6" longer which gives me more room for my fuge area and will be able to hold abou a gallon more in my return pump area.
but anyways the point is i got some AGA silicone cost me bout 20 bucks but i know for a fact that it is tank safe since its what they use to build em

I was always told to use anything that says 100% silicone. If you want to see the difference get lowes to give you a copy of the MSDS sheet for both and compare. they should have them in the contractor sales area.
found msds for silicone 2 online but am having problems finding it online for silicone 1 this is what is in silicone 2 Chemical CAS No / Unique ID Percent Hexamethyldisilazane 000999-97-3 1-5 Methyltrimethoxysilane 001185-55-3 1-5 Polydimethylsiloxanes (Silicon oil) 063148-62-9 10-30 Methyldimethoxy polydime-siloxane 068037-58-1 60-80 Silanol/Siloxane polymers 068554-67-6 1-5 Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, silica reaction product 068583-49-3 10-30

blake, what did you do thursday? did you use silicone in a tank with water and livestock in it? I think uncured silicone in a tank would be like adding any other type of chemical to the tank.

no i used it into my sump for the baffles and even let it dry for almost 2 days then ran water into it then into tank within 2 hours stuff started to look really bad so i stopped the sump and did some extra research and realized what i did, ive already done all i can and lost a lot of stuff and rebuildt sump just scraped off the silicone with a razor blade and redid it all then let dry again then started pumping everything looks fine with ge1 (DONT USE GE2!)
