RO/DI w/softner system?
I've been using my undersink RO unit for top offs as reccommended...had a panic moment when I realized that this water source first comes through the homes water softner system(salt not potassium). Is this a potential problem?

The rodi will take the extra sodium out of the water from the softener. I have been told the softener will make the RODI cartridges last longer

You WANT to feed your RO with soft water! If there is any trace of scale forming minerals in the feed water, they will precipitate out on the surface of the RO membrane, shortening it's life drastically. From years to days!
