Fish trap

I have seen several members say they use a homemade or coke bottle fish trap to get elusive critters out of their tank. I have a firefish I would like to get out. Any links or pictures?

i have tried the coke bottle method to catch fish to no avail.. they dont seem to like to swim down into the trap. i made a box out of acrylic 8" long, 4" wide, 4" tall. make the back side solid and cut a strip out of the top for a piece of acrylic to slide down in the front. Trap door style worked the best for me

fish traps only work on certain types of fish. i spent the entire weekend trying to catch a long-nose hawk. he ignored the trap completely. what finally got him is a day of no food, and some selcon-soaked frozen food dropped over a giant net (something like 6"x8"). he swam right over it. on the other hand, when i needed to catch a 6-line, the coke-bottle trick worked in 5 minutes.

best I can do is describe it so here goes. Take a clear 2 liter soda bottle. remove the top. Tie a piece of string around the neck of the bottle and leave about 2 feet long. About halfway down the bottle cut 3 triangles apx 1.5- 2 inches tall pointing up. Leave the bottom side of the triangles intact. Fold the triangles in toward the center of the bottle. You need to refrain from feeding your fish for a day or two. Place some of your fishes favorite food in the bottle and slowly submerge the bottle into the tank. Now you have to wait for the fish to investigate the food in the bottle. when the fish swims in and to the bottom you pull out the bottle. Now you have the fish.
