lighting questioins
Hey guys,
I have a 65 gallon (3ft wide) display tank. I have a 250 watt metal halide bulb, but just inherited a 400 watt bulb and ballast. My questions are... 1. Can I use the 250 watt in the 400 watt ballast, or will it burn out quickly? 2. If I use the 400 watt bulb and ballast, how high should the bulb be from the water? Thanks, Mike |

No, only use the same wattage bulb with the same wattage ballast.
I'd say you'd be ok at about 12" to 14", but I'd stay with a 250 watt system 65 gal.

I think the 250W is PLENTY!!! 400 W is big time as well, just more expensive with the energy man!
