Media Reactor Design?

I'm going to need to buy or build two new reactors for GFO/GAC for my new 180gal. I really want to stay away from the typical design that has the in and out hookups on the top (i.e. with the tube going down the middle of the reactor) The reason I want to stay away from this is that I think these designs are a real pain to refill, and the more of a pain it is the less likely I will change it.

The only designs like this that I've seen on the market are the GEO media reactor and the BRS reactor. The GEO is a bit pricey at $124 each, and since I want to run these reactors off my return, the small diameter of the tubing and fittings of the BRS reactor is a concern for me.

Has anyone seen any other models that don't have the center tube, or can anyone tell me that I don't need to be concerned about the small size of the tubing with the BRS reactor and why?

The reverse gravity flow reactor designs are the best as they allow for the most surface contact by slightly suspending the media while gravity keeps it in the chamber. As for the center tube they are a slight pain but not a big deal IMO.

I would also be a little concerned about the small tubing size on the BRS model, I sure it's fine for normal flow as the reactors don’t need a lot - but, it seems like they just modified a normal tap water filter with no consideration to normal calcium or algae build up that seems inevitable to all salt water system pipe and tubing.
