Lighting help!
Ok, I need some advice on lighting. I have a 90gl reef tank that currently has 2 T6 40wt bulbs. I found a good deal on a 400wt MH ballast set up, $90. Its magentic and I know that's a draw back. But I'm only looking for a short time fix, till I can put out the $400-500 in need to. My tank is 4' wide but with the return sticking out 8" on the side, and the rock not starting for another 4", I really only use 3' of the tank. Is a 400wt bulb over kill for the tank. I went to a fish store today and was told don't do it, save my money and get a 250wt system, I will get a better lighting system down the road but can't spend that kind of money right now. I want to be able to do anything with the tank SPS and LPS corals. Any advice would be great! Thanks
