RODIs can be hooked to a faucet, but unless you have one that you never use (which you can dedicate to it) you'll eventually want to hard-plumb it. Installation is pretty easy, the instructions should get you there... unless you buy Pure Water Club, then the instructions read like... well, they don't read very well.
You basically have one line that feeds the unit, one that is for waste water output and one that is for purified water output. |

I have my setup in my mechanical area of my basement so i can have it connected 24/7. I fill a 32G brute. Buy a auto shut off kit from Bulk Reef supply, or something similar. My mechanical area is great becasue i have a water source and a drain for the waste water line.

AWI is good stuff.
Do you have an extra cold water stub in that laundry room? What I'm talking about is a sink valve at the wall? If not, you could "T" off of another one... just don't use hot water, it will waste the membrane and/or the resin. |

New to the hobby
So, I am new to the hobby and I would like to know how to get started. I currently have a 75 gallon non drilled tank. I understand that I should have a drilled tank. Then what?

a drilled tank, to my knowledge and keep in mind im very new at this means that it has a built in overflow which means that it has pipes from the tank going out of it to the sump. which is good in the long term for filtration and what not. as far as wats next ill tell u wat me and my brother are doing. we bought a tank of craigslist came with a sump stand canopy main 90 gal tank then probly about a week later we found somebody selling a skimmer so we bought that and now are waiting for the RO/DI unit and have bought pumps and salt. the last thing we are going to buy are the lights (LEDs are better they are a bit more expensive but will last u for 5 years and save u a ton of money over all. one Led bulb is about 100 bucks but a bulb for metal halides is about 60-100 thts if u find it tht cheap which u have to change every 6 months so yea LEDS) live rocks and sand.
since u have the tank already i would find somebody who knows how to drill a tank and get it done keep in mind this is very important tht nothing goes wrong or else ur tank is pretty much gone. ofcourse i could be wrong about everything as im new but this is all i know. ANY EXP MEMBER WANNA HELP HIM out? |

I just hooked up my RO/DI from Bulk Reef Supply. Took all of 15 minutes. Connected self-piercing saddle valve to a cold water line in my basement. Ran the output with float valve to a 44 gallon Brute trash barrel. Ran the waste line out the basement window to a another barrel. The waste water will be used for watering flowers etc. I will have to figure out a different solution for my waste water during the winter. Backyard skating rink maybe?

*Don't use that as an on/off valve *Sometimes the small hole pierced in the copper line closes with scale *Don't use one of these fittings in a system with a booster pump *Watch for leaks at the fitting. Russ |
