So leaving it plugged in, but shutting off the water supply is OK? Thanks again for the input.

I left the supply water ON all the time and unplugged the unit when not in use. It will stop producing water when its unplugged even with the supply ON.

I also have the problem where if I leave it on with a float valve top off, the resin exhaust like in 1 week.
Now its on a timer and only turn on twice/week for 1.5 hrs each time and my resin has not exhausted and its been 4 months so far..

I unplug mine when not in use as I have noticed that it will continue to flush itself every so often after the unit considers the container to be full (float valve). I only unplug it when the container is full and it is not actively producing water as I would rather not reset the unit while it is running. Note that I run a separate container that is not connected directly to my tank, this can be counter to putting in an automated top off system that you don't have to touch.

Vertex Puratek RODI 100gpd unit

I made some changes to mine and so far like the outcome. Here is what I did.

1. Swapped 100 GPD RO with a 75 GPD. The 75 unit has a 98% rejection as compaired to the 90% from the 100 GPD.

2. Switch the DI with new Bulk Reef color change.

3. Added a second DI chamber.

4. I added a dual TDS meter to each DI output.

5. I moved the puratech TDS to right after the RO.

I do not unplug the unit unless the TDS get wacky.

Resaults:
I make water weekly 15 gallons.

When the system is running I get 1.5 gallons of waste for every gallon made.

The TDS meters on the DI always say 0. The TDS out of the RO is between 0-1. When the unit flushs the RO TDS goes up. The highest I have sceen 35 but just for a second but then it goes Back to 0-1

Need to test but it was a good start I'll post after I make so more water.

yes the problem is when there are too many flushes. This happen when you hook it up to an auto top off because everytime it gets full it will flush. So there will be too many spikes which resulted in shorter DI life. Now I just put it on a timer to be turned on only twice/week.

I make 44 gallons in one go. Then that lasts me all week. It is off for the other 6 days.

For me, it seems like the TDS creeps very high when leaving it running with the float valve.

To bring the TDS down, I have to turn it off and on like 4-6 times to backflush back to 1-2 TDS.

Waste connection/line is identified correctly and the carbon filter is in the center housing so that isn't wrong either. The drawing shows sediment filter on right and DI on the left - that can't be right unless the whole flow is reversed from standard? Did they purposely reverse the flow on this unit to be different or did they just screw up english translation and direction on the drawing? I guess I can trace out the lines and verify direction hookups but was hoping somebody could just verify for me.

Thanks
can someone tell me if this is right, and should the left canister be filled with water? because it is not

There really is no directional standard with these things. The instructions are correct. Sediment filter on the right, carbon in the middle and DI on the left. flow comes in on the right, and waste and product lines exit on the left. Mine has "water in", "to faucet" (product) and "drain" (waste) written on the left and right canisters and the flow restrictor at the top.

In your picture, your water in would be the top right line, product would be the line on the left, and your waste line s above and out of the picture

The water should flow into the right sediment canister first, then the middle carbon caniser, then through the pump and into the RO membrane horizontal at the top, then into the DI canister on the left.

yes that is how it is, what about the left canister not being filled with water?

No the DI canister does not fill up completely with water, at least not initially

Thanks!

I couldn't remember that part as I have yet to change my DI resin. I do have to say that I love the thing, and your setup pains will pay off!!!

How do you connect the garden hose to the unit. Any pics would be very helpful.

HD will have a hose bib adapter, that is attached with a compression fitting to the 1/4 inch tubing
