calcium reactor question

when I turn the calcium reactor pump on the drip into the effluent cup is cut off. I have tried following the directions but the result is same. When the calcium reactor pump is off I can control my drip/minute in effluent cup, but once I plug in the pump the flow in the effluent cup and directly to the sump are interrupted. Any thoughts?

Insure that the inlet line and the effluent lines are connected to the right points.
The inlet line to the reactor goes to the recirculation pump pipinng and the effluent line shall come out from the top of the reactor.

Also insure that the reactor is fed with a powerhead; preferebly a MJ1200 with a bleed hole to give the powerhead enough water flow for cool down.

BTW Octopus 300, isn't it a skimmer rather than a reactor? Looking forward for the pics. Try getting pics of the lines and feed method also.

Here is a pic of the setup. I have it running for 6 months with no issues until my last water change.

sorry, The octopus 30o is my skimmer and not the calcium reactor.
I have been feeding the CR pump via a Tee from the return pump. Hope the pic helps.

OK that is a Korallin reactor. From the picture and as I tought seems that your effluent line (the one with the closed John Guess Valve) is connected were the inlet line from the T off should be. The inlet is the connection to the inlet of the recirculation pump, the tube were the CO2 also enters the pump. Similarly the input from the T off is connected wrong to were the effluent line should be at the discharge of the recirculation pump.
Switch them.

An alternative (and I think is more stable) form of running the effluent will be to correct the inlet by switching it to were the effluent line it is now. Keep the effluent line comming out from the output of the recirculation pump shut off with the Joh Guess and use only one line as effluent by using only the line comming from the top of the chamber.
