Looking for a good loner fish in my 25! Dwarf Angel too big?

Hey guys,

I've got a 25 gallon tall tank. It's been established for over a year, and I've recently sold the rather large tomato clown pair that were in it, as I felt the tank was a little too cramped for them. The current residents are a cleaner shrimp, pistol shrimp and the cleanup crew, along with all the corals and a small BTA.

I want the tank to be mainly coral dominated, but I wouldn't mind a fish swimming around int here. Trouble is, it's tough to find a small, interesting fish that would be comfortable in the tank.

I was playing around with he idea of adding a flame angel (I have one in my 40), or another dwarf angel, but after some research, I imagine the tank is too small? Even considering it would be the only fish?

I also have a Royal Gramma in my 20 gallon, which might do nicely, but I'm still not sure.

Any other ideas? I was toying with the idea of a goby for the pistol shrimp, but considering it's a Bullseye pistol shrimp, and that I'm looking for more of a swimmer, I probably won't go with that option.

Any Ideas would be great!!!

Thanks,

Phil.

A cherub dwarf angel would be a good candidate but it may harass your gramma. I would guess not though since the gramma is already established.

How about a 6 line wrasse? They're active, harmless to coral, and would be fine by themselves.

I vote for a cherub (pygmy) angel as well. The african flameback is a beautiful fish that maxes out at about 2" It's carribean cousin stays about the same size, but is mostly a dark blue. Either way, they will quickly dominate the tank.

Cherub angel may pick at your corals.. mine however does not. I have it in along with an orchid dottyback..

You are joking I hope!

Ive not had angels so I can't comment. What about another clown pair, just a smaller sp.? A firefish? A fridmani dottyback? A mandarin is fun to watch, but not a swimmer. Same with a dwarf fuzzy lionfish. Or a small tang, that can be moved to your other tank in time?
Lots if choice.

Thanks for the great ideas guys! The Cherub Angel is definitely an attractive choice, so far my top pick! I'm considering the other suggestions too, except the cowfish hehe

I vote for a fuzzy lionfish. Great personalities but not overly active.

I think my only concern with the lionfish, as cool as it would be, is that I'd already be pushing the minimum tank size for it, and because it's a 25 "tall", the amount of perching areas are pretty limited. All the corals add to this problem, and from what I've seen, these guys like to bumble around on the rocks a lot.

I kept a cherub angel in my 33g cube and it was a model citizen. Be aware that these guys may or may not nip coral and clams. It seems that the cherubs are the least likely to do it, but that means about dick in the world of reefing. Mileage will vary with each fish. I lost mine to an unfortunate heater incident and am thinking of adding another

Sixlines tend to get aggressive, especially in small tanks.
