How do YOU quarantine your fish?

I just want to see who uses what for their quarantine procedures for both fish AND corals. What size tank? Which medications? Sand bed? What kind of filtration? Frequency of water changes? And all other helpful information you can give. Thanks!

I Have a separate system that I use. Its a bare bottom 10 gallon with live rock. I have a HOB filter with a filter pad and carbon. Its simple but it works.

I use a 30 gallon BB tank with a couple pieces of live rock that never go into the DT. I also have a powerfilter for water movement as well as to put filterfloss in. I also run a small powerhead.

I also run a seperate system. It is a 29 gallon with a couple of peices of live rock. HOB filter as well as a Seaclone skimmer that I got for nothing so decided to run it on there. Every fish gets held here for 4 weeks to check for health and acclimation before going to display.

I don't necessarily condone this, but I don't use a QT for fish or coral. It's playing with fire, but i've never had any issues. Fish get acclimated and placed right into the DT, corals get dipped in ReVive and then placed right in the DT.

Do any of you use medications? I only ask because I've heard that live rock will just die off and produce ammonia if it is treated with copper.

Copper will kill the inverts and such living on the rock, so yes it would create a temporary ammonia spike. The bacteria would still be on the rock, though. I treat with copper in my QT, but I rely on mechanical filtration. I have a couple aquaclear filters on the tank. I also treat with prazipro as part of the quarantine for fish. If something else creeps up, I'll treat accordingly as well, but as a standard every fish goes through copper and prazi if it is to go to the DT. I have some eels I am overly paranoid of treating with copper or hypo (they're sensitive) so they just got their own tanks instead.

Simple 20g with powerhead sponge filter (seeded in my sump), heater, and some PVC.

I have it plumbed (with air gap) so I can do WC with water from Mix tank OR DT (for acclimation in the last 2 weeks of QT).
Worked flawless for 8 out of 10 fish (2 fish didnt make it through QT) over a 1.5yr period.
