you talking about to cover the back of the tank? if so I like the look of black, it makes the colors pop better but blue gives depth. i just used latex pain and painted the outside of the tank. with latex paint it will peel back off easy.

BTW

Ditto on the black or blue. Paint can be easier than a backdrop as things can get between the backdrop and glass.

I just went with a dark blue backdrop. I have seen people paint them. Less maintnenace in my opinion. because when you get the backdrop the slightest wet.. you have to take the whole thing down and clean and dry it and the tank.
Just a little annoying in my opinion.
Either works

I taped my tank off and spray painted the back/bottom of the tank black.

So water can get between it and the glass so there's no maintenance, and you can razor it off when you want to remove it.

The only decision is color. I did a metallic black, but a navy or deep blue would look good too. Just up to personal preference.
