New Tank Question

This may be a very vague question but I will ask anyways. My tank is 2months old, so where should it be up to this point?

It should hopefully have been cycled lol. The less vague the better. Everyone always wants to know params, livestock, equipment, etc. etc. or you end up with answers like this. No worries though, I've been pretty vague myself a lot of times. I don't know if I'll ever put everything someone wants to know lol

Would be good to know more about your system, but as a rough estimate I would say you should not have added any livestock before 4 weeks, and fish should not be added more than one per week. Even that is fairly aggressive. So at 8wks you should have a cycled tank with no more than 4 fish, a CUC and a couple of hearty corals. Anything less than that would be good progress IMO.

How big is the tank?
What are your parameters (the actual numbers)?
What equipment do you have?
And what is your goal for livestock?

Ok well how about this, I am getting cyno on my sand but none on my rock. I was battling Dino so I have not done a water change in about a month. is that what is causing it. or could it be flow. I have to korallia 2's in a 29g which is 30" long

Cyano in a new tank is perfectly normal IME. I usually expect it to be 'gone' around the 4 month mark, unless I get lucky (which I rarely do). You may want to consider more flow than 2 K2's.

What lighting? And do you have a sump?

I have a 15g sump with a vertex 100 protein skimmer and I am using a 150w mh sunpod. as for flow I was thinking of getting an mp10 or mp20 but those are kinda pricey so I was hoping to stick with with k2's

I would definitely be doing regular water changes. And if the problem persists beyond 4-6 months I would definitely consider improving the water flow. In the meantime, patience and good husbandry can go a long way with a new tank.

I have read not to do water changes when battling Dino, so now what do I do?

Water changes will ALWAYS be your best friend!!! As for flow, - if the K2's are not enough (and they probably are not) get a K3 or two - I use 2 x k4's in my 60g along with a MJ1200 and a couple other smaller ones. I test it like this: just before that water change that you need to do anyway, thaw some frozen food, dump it in, and watch it swirl around. If it seems to sink into any particular area, yup - needs more flow!
