How can i make this work?

I'm in the process of seting up a new tank. Display tank is 190 gallons and measures 48"x36"x25". I want to plumb a couple of frag tanks I have into this tank. Frag tanks measure (A)44"Lx18"Wx8"H and the other is (B)30L"x24W"x16"H. Picture included shows the DT to the right, with the frag tank(A) to the left on top and a Remote Display Refugium(B) flush in the stand. My biggest worry with this is the front left corner where the Fuge is. I would like to keep an open look like this but im thinking I'll have to put some sort of "leg" there. What do you guys think the best way to make this look good and clean, yet strong enough to hold. Thanks in advance.

Thats going to be great looking. Unfortunately you will need some support on the corner. I do however think you have some options. I think you couldcome up with an angle brace from the back corner or use something less ontrusive like a polished chrome or aluminum pipe. It would ne smaller than a 2x4. You would have to put a plate on top and bottom with the rod/pole in between the 2 plates.

Make the frame out of 2" square steel and cover with a wood facade.

I like the idea of an open fuge, but keep in mind its going to be A LOT of work to keep it looking display quality. Fuges tend to be on the nasty looking side because well, thats what their job is.

Good idea with the metal bar. I was thinking a smaller piece of wood, like a round decrotive big dowel lookin thing... But i think the metal would be easier and cleaner looking. As far as keeping the fuge clean, im confident ill be able to keep it apealing to the eye. Planing on making the stand for the Frag tank 27"W, so since the tank will only take up 18" of that i was gonna make an access hole on top(for fuge) as well on the sides.

Thanks for the input and suggestions. Keep em comming. Thanks

Thats gonna look good bro. I like the metal frame idea...clean and strong. Obviously gotta use the right stuff though to keep from rusting, which in turn jacks the price up a bit.

Although you could still make it look awesome with all wood and just have a bigger corner brace. This is more cost effective...unless you have some metal/welding hook ups, which wouldn't suprise me.=) Either way...cant wait to see pics when it's done!

I would agree that the easiest/best option to keep that open look would be a piece of angle iron (or aluminum) I would imagine 1 1/2x 1 1/2 wouls give you plenty of support and enough to mount it to the wood fairly simply.

If you have a local powder coating shop near you, you could get it powder coated just about any color (including tinted refective coatings) you could come up with to help it blend in to the tank.

I do like you set up. Very clean, and I agree with the idea to have the fuge something you can enjoy as well. Something I am working on adding to my system currently.

Thanks guys. I actually work with a guy that builds top fuel cars, and hes the metal fab guy, so he said he would build it for me. His guestimate quote to build the frag tank/fuge stand is $50 for materials and powder coating. The problem is the stand for the DT is already built out of wood, so the metal stand would need to be secured to the existing stand. That shouldn't be too hard to do right?
