175 ballast
I currently have a 175 watt single ended metal halide setup. I was curious if i could use the same ballast i currently have and switch to a 150w hqi setup? If so is there any advantage in doing this? Thanks

I don't think you can, but I may be wrong. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I believe you can use 150 DEs on some electronic ballasts.
IMO, your best bet is to put a couple Iwasaki 15ks in there and go with it. Iwasaki 15k 175s provide better light than most 250s. Unless you are growing all SPS in a 30 inch tank the Iwasaki 15k are by far your best option.
