6 or 8 bulb LET T5 retro???

I finally decided to go with a retro kit for my build, now to decide how many bulbs! Just ordered the tank from glass cages, 48x24x16, the overflow is down 1.5" from the top so the water level will be 14.5". I think 6 bulbs should cover the 24" width however the extra 2 bulbs are only another $120. Do you think 8 bulbs would be to much? Will be mostly sps w/ some chalices and plates on the sand bed. Going with 1" of sand and the light will be 10" above tank so roughly 25" from sand bed to light.

I think a 6 bulb would be fine. My buddy runs a Tek 6 bulbs on his 48x24x20 tank and has no problems with SPS.

6 bulbs r fine, that way u can hv less lighting demanding species at the front of the tank. 8 bulbs will gv u better coverage and a higher electric bill. it also depends on what retro kit u r getting,

I have a 7 bulb over driven with ice cap reflectors on my 120 (48x24x24).
Bulbs are about 6" above the water in the canopy, it is too much light. I would go with 6.

Guess I'll go with the 6, can always add 2 more if I want cause I'll have 2 ballast to run 6 bulbs anyway, thanks for the input guys.
