55 gal Just started

I am very new to reef tanks I have a local guy from reef store helping me out but would love the extra help I just build my stand and hood and started everything on 6/6/10.

Welcome to the forum!!

Caveat! LFS are very, very, helpful. Especially since they get to sell you stuff . Always check first about what you need, when you need them, and for how much. What have you got so far, and what are your plans?

Current Tank Info: Incept 3/2010, 150 RR, 50g sump, 20g fuge, 150w 15K MH x3, T5 actinics x8, moonlight LED x6, 1400gph return, Koralia 1400 x4, 300 g skimmer, 4 tangs, 2 mandarins, 2 perc, 6 line, 3 cardinals, 2 firefish, SPS, LPS, zoas, palys, shrooms, clam

How long should I wait to put in coral or fish?? And what kinda lights do I need with the 55 gal tank??

How long you wait for coral and fish will depend on how long it takes for your tank to cycle. Also, your lights will depend on what you hope to stock in the tank eventually. Do some research on here and perhaps wetwebmedia to answer any questions you might have.

what kind of rock is that? looks like you may want more but some of those pieces dont look very pouris to me.

IDK what type of rock it is it was given to me by the guy i meet at the aquarium store. He said it was base rock thet were dry when he gave it to me i know i need more i am going to get LR in the morning. I have a protien skimmer OTW that goes in the sump.

hey another tip that can save you tons of money and get lots of info. see if you can find a local reef club.

make sure you get a some good test kits and use ro/di water for your tanks and get some good meters ph. TDS and a hydrometer or Refractometer.
