Coral banded shrimp

How often do coral banded shrimp molt? I have had one for about a month and I has already molted twice. The first time I thought it died so I took it out, and a couple days later I noticed I still had a coral banded shrimp in there and now he had two claws.

All depends on how old they are and how much they are eating. Sounds about right for a smaller well fed CBS.

Yes around the front legs near the body is blue.
I've had one for over 3 years now.It used to molt quite often(every month or so).
But,now it's older it's like every other month.

Thank you . I never really noticed the blue before it molted, so I was not sure.

It is going to molt as it gets larger, then it may kill a small fish. Mine killed a juvenile anthias and I have also read other posts about the same issue, be careful.

It killed one of my cleaner shrimp, and it also grabbed my emperor angel once.

I have never seen a CBS kill anything except brissle worms.
As a matter of fact,as they get older they tend to hide more.
I only see mine hunting at night.

Mine is out moving quite a bit and rather aggressive. Maybe I am not feeding it enough?

Mine ate 1 hermit a night no matter what I did. That's why I removed him. They look cool but they are murderous little animals. Which the looks don't really matter anyway, considering they hide all day.

Hopefully this wont start happening with mine, but so far my cb shrimp does stay in his territory during the day, but his spot is in plain view. At night he moves around the tank munching on sand and rock, but all my small hermits are still alive and well. I am feeding him pellets every day though...

Mine molts about once per month. It is also a killer - it has killed every other shrimp that I've put into the tank and has also killed a Hector's Goby.
