looking for some input

How far can you run your water from your main tank to your fish room. I'm thinking of running my water from my display tank out to a unattached shop beside my house it would be about 40' to 50' from my display to where I want to set up my fish room. about 25 feet ran along the back side of my house and about 15' under ground to the detached shop. would I need a huge pump to pump from display and then another to pump from fish room. Just woundering if it would be worth it I'm setting up a 125 in the shop and my main tank is 180. Trying to combine both systems. Looking for input please.

It seems like a lot of plumbing and electricity use for little benefit. I don't see the advantage of that much effort to plumb the two displays together. Plus trying to match up the two pumps that you need sounds like it would be problematic. Can you say why you want to plumb the two tanks together.

want to move all filiters and equipment/,chillier,cal reactor, refugium,90gal sump, rodi, water storage. The only thing that will be under my main display is the pump pushing to fish tank room.

I don't see any reason why it could not be done. The down side, aside from logistics, is that if something does go wrong with the plumbing, it might be tricky to diagnose. Is there anyway you could locate your equipment where all the lines are visible? To put things in perspecitve, the loudest part of my tank is the trickle of water coming from the siphon breaks on the return lines. So, if you are doing this for sound reduction purposes, it may a lot of effort for little return.

I was just thinking that if I did it then all of my equipment is in one area andI dont have a chillier running in my livingroom and I can feed my main tank and my frag/125 off of my cal reactor. Dont have any other central place to locate it. If I use sch 90 pvc and run it deep enough it should not be a problem there is nothing but my lawn mower that goes over that part of my yard.

Only thing i would change is not having one sump for two systems, if something goes wrong in one, you will have the same issues in the other. and you won't know which one caused it. second the pump needed to run a system like that will require a minimum 2 inch inlet all the way through.

I know a lot of people have remote fish rooms, so I'm sure it could be done, although that's a pretty long run. It'd take quite a pump to get the water back to the display, and as someone mentioned, that's a lot of plumbing to maintain/ trouble shoot.

The biggest problem that I see with your proposed setup is using 2 pumps. Matching to pumps is just about impossible. And even if you can match them initially, over time the flow rates will change, even a slight change could result in a flood in your house or in your shop.
