Par/lux??????????
Yesterday my neighbor whom I have inspired to set up a tank, comes over with a light or PAR meter as he called it.
I rinsed it off and he went right to taking measurements at different levels in the tank. I run the TEK 8 Bulb T5 that is 432watts. As he takes these measurements, I was writing them down. So as he is calling out these numbers, he tells me that it is the number times 10. So for example he would say 175 or 175x10= 1,750. Now he did not say what measurement the number was in. Meaning PAR/Lux/Lumen. What measurement do you suppose he was refering to? When we measured his MH-2x150 + 96watts of PC, his measurements were lower than my T5's. We are only about 60watts apart. Still do not know what the measurement was in. The value. All I know was that it was 50 at the sand or as he says 500. Can't be PAR right? |

Most likely he is referring to lumens as the final number.

Actually, it was most likely footcandles, or lux. Lumens can't be measured by handheld tools. It certainly wasn't PAR.
