Solatube on a reef in Mi
I just picked up a large tank 380 gal 92x30x30
I'm looking at lighting Ideas. I curintley using T5's on my 120 would love to stay with them but at 30" deep there not going to cut it if I ever get in to SPS so that leaves MH or Solatube's I love the idea of FREE lighting, but with the number of cloudy day's would 3 Solatube's and some T5's do the job in michigan ??? |

I can't speak for solar tubes, but I do know there are a number of reef greenhouses in Ohio and Michigan. That would imply that there is at least enough light for maintaining corals and possibly decent growth. Supplementing with overdriven high PAR T5's (like ATI blue+), and it sounds like it's very much doable assuming you can work out the solar tube details.
