Powerhead Placement in a 55 gallon tank..help please.

I have a standard 55 gallon tank that I am having trouble getting good flow across the sand bed.

I have 3 powerheads. One is a Hydor Korllia 750 that I can point to whereever.

One is an older fixed postion Powerhead that only blows straight out.

The other is an older one that moves back and forth (if working correctly).

Can anyone provide a diagram of where you have your PH's placed in your 55?

I'm trying to get good flow across the sandbed without stirring it up.

Thanks!

Usually a couple of strong PHs (like 2 koralia mag6 for a 55) placed 1/3 of the way from the top will eliminate dead spots. But 2 smaller PHs 1/2 way down may be needed. I don't like dead spot either, I use massive flow in my tanks, one tank has no sand.
But if you let the PH blow for a couple of days the sand will re-distribute itself and just let it be after that--even if there is 1/2" here ans 3" there or even bare spots--it really doesn't matter. And after a couple of months it will fill naturally.

I have one 750 in front high up on the left aimed low to the right and one 750 in back low down on the right and aimed high and to the left. I also have a return flowing back left. The result seems pretty good. No significant dead spots and it creates a gentle swirl through the tank.

I'd draw you a picture, but that is just a little beyond my technological savvy.
