I have a question. Or two. What pump(s) are used on these skimmers and some technical info on them please?? Also, where can they be purchased?

The H2 uses a sedra 5000 and the H1 uses a Sedra 2500. There are pics on the Warner Marine web site.

I've had my H2 running for about 3 weeks. I ordered it through Premium Aquatics. I have it on a 20g loaded with ricordia and 3 fish. The skimmer is a very solid build and a large collection cup. My main reason for going this route was keeping the pump out of the display. It has performed well pulling out what I would call tan-brown skimmate - still loooking for the optimum setting. Pump is very quiet.

Few issues so far the largest being I couldn't hang it on my tank as the inlet and outlet tubes interfered with the sunpod fixture I had on the tank. I solved this by having it sit on a wood block behind the tank and having those tubes go right over the tank lip.

Support from Warner Marine has been good thus far.

I'll post some pics later.

Reefer Steve... You and I really need to become good friends. Not because of your skimmer, but because of your occupation!! Wanna move to a small town in northern Minnesota?? There is a small pastry business in town for sale.

Back to the news at hand. Do you have your skimmer on your 29g?? Any pics??

Mine H1 is up and going now on day 4. It's pulling a nice bit of skimmate thus far, however my tank is in the cycling stage and I have no bio load to speak of.

How loud is your H1? Mine skims well but is very loud. Not a quiet hum, but more like a buzz. It's the newer model H1 and I just got it a couple of months back and can't get the noise to go down.

Thanks

Mine has a pretty loud buzz as well. I'm not sure how to fix it though. Maybe John Warner will chime in and give some tips. I actually emailed him a while back but never heard from him.

Well, here's my saga with the H1. I actually emailed Jon also and made some posts on the Premium Aquatics section of RC. He eventually sent a new impeller to try but I had to buy my own little black nub that keeps the impeller in place, as one was missing. Turns out the impeller w/ no nub damaged the pump so I was able to get a new pump from Premium Aquatics. I was hoping that would help but there's still a buzz and I know for a fact that no part of the pump is touching the skimmer body, and I've re-seated the impeller lord knows how many times. I guess it's just a noisy skimmer pump. Sucks because I asked about this before I ordered and really wanted something quiet, as the tank's in the living room. Glad to hear I'm not crazy and there is a buzzing sound that unfortunately seems to be normal which is unfortunate because it skims like a champ...Hope you eventually hear from Jon.

I've developed a buzz now and it's driving me nuts. I took the pump out and soaked the whole thing in vinegar water and still have a buzz. I even took the pump apart, reseated everything and still a buzz. I called John and he said I will have to pull the pump apart again and try and figure out what's wrong, could be a cracked needle wheel or messed up impeller.

Sorry for the total PITA issue - but thanks for the update, greatly appreciated

I love the skimmer, it does really well so far. The buzz or hmm is driving me nuts though. I just took everything apart, inspected it and all seemed normal and put it back together. I will give it a few days and see what happens.

Mine never quieted down which was a shame because aside from the noise it was among the best skimmers I've owned. Got rid of it because the buzz was too much to take. Did you ever hear from Jon?

Installed mine this morning. Regarding the buzzing... mine definitely buzzes, although I don't think it's too bad. We'll see in a week how it sounds, I'm hoping it quiets down at least a little. Microbubbles are minimal after just 6 hours of running.

I could not get a siphon going unless I sucked on the air tube. Some people said theirs started up after filling with water and dunking the air tube under water, this didn't work for me.

I never had any luck with putting the tube under water either. I have to suck on the air tube as well to get it primed.

Ive had the new h2 running on my 40gal tank now for about 3 weeks. Not to sure about this skimmer. One bad thing about it is, the lid warps and dosent fit the top anymore. Heard from others that this has happened to their's as well and may be a common problem. Lid is no where near my LED lighting. Ive also recently developed a problem with the o-ring that is used to adjust the collection cup height, sliding down on it's own. This happened to me the other day. The collection cup slid down to it's lowest setting, causing an overflow and spilling about 2 gallons of water onto my carpeting. Also, with the new h2, there is no silencer included for the venturi intake tubing. The hissing sound was driving me nuts. I emailed WM and they said they would send me an air silencer from an H1. Never received it.

I just recently reported all the issues to Jeremy at Premium Aquatics where I bought the skimmer. He is trying to contact WM for me. We'll see what there solutions are.

Too many issues for the $300.00 price tag in my opinion. We'll see.

Dennis

My lid arrived warped, but it wasn't too bad, just not perfectly flat. If you have a MJ or Deltec silencer you may be able to use that. You're in good hands with Jeremy. He'll help you out.

It ARRIVED warped??? Well, it's only going to get worse. I gave up on the skimmer and returned it. For $300, there shouldn't be THAT many quality control issues IMO.

Dennis

PS: Agreed. Jeremy is top notch.

Yep, out of the box the lid didn't lay flat on the top. Returned mine as well after a replacement pump and other mods didn't stop the buzzing. Any ideas on what you'll replace it with?
