Light half of tank?

Wondering if anyone has done separate kinds of lighting on each half of their tank. What I was thinking (I have a 55 gallon) is light half of it with MH and the other half with T5, the reason behind this is to be able to keep all the corals I want on one side of the tank, and have the subdued lighting required for lionfish so he will be able to have somewhere to rest, a kind of eerie place for him to rest.

Post pics if you have them.

I think that would be worth trying. It sounds like it would be a cool look....The shimmer of MH on one side and the T5 on the other. I'd go for it.

I was just thinking today of using something to block out some of the T5 lights on my tank today to have a small area to put lower light corals like Chalice so they won't bleach out as easily. I've found in my 40 breeder that even putting corals like Chalice in the sand they will still bleach from the tank I get them out of.
