Frogspawn, Unhappy or Dying ?
I'v had my frogspawn for about 3 weeks, he started out fine but has been closing up little by little since. A week ago I moved him from mid level with medium flow to the sandbed with lower flow(looking for improvement) and he has just gotten worse. It;s so closed up I can barely see a single polyp.
I have a 29G Biocube w/ PC lighting, been testing and all parameters are good. Any suggestions? |

doesnt sound good. it could be dying if things dont improve. is this a new tank? what r the parameters? simply saying everything tested fine isnt very detail. what other corals r in the tank? frogspawns like low to medium indirect flow. power compact is good enough for this coral.

Your lights should be fine, unless you are running actinic bulbs only, I kept frogspawn for years in my biocube.
Are you sure your thermometer is accurate and that your temp is in the proper range? Salinity? Any other corals in the tank? How are they doing?

Also, what is your Ca, Alk, and Mg levels in the tank? I used to have a frogspawn in a biocube a while ago and although I never dosed the tank daily, the frogspawn would always look amazing a few days after I did a water change with a reef salt.

I run my daytime lights for 7 hours and actinic for 9, my salinity is 1.22, temp 78-79, and my other coral, zoas and ricordea are doing ok.

What about amonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphates and calcium. Basic stuff but not mentioned.
Whenever there is an issue like this water is often the culprit. |

What fish and inverts do you have in the tank and how old are your bulbs?
My frogspawn likes medium light and medium indirect flow.

Have zoa's, ricodea, bulbs are less than 6 months old, waiting for Nanotuners to receive their shipment of PC-R bulbs to replace them.
