PC bulb options help
Hi, I have 2 coralife 24" power compact fixtures. both run the 65watt bulbs and are both using the stock coralife 65watt 50/50 bulb. I dont really like the color that I get with them. I am waiting to build out my canopy and waiting on my 6 bulb t5 retro kit to show up in the mail. Does anybody have any idea of what brand is going to give me a little more blue. I know I am very limited in my options here and after buying my t5 kit I am on limited resources and am looking for some better color options over the stock bulbs. any suggestions would be helpfull. thanks.

Are you talking about replacing the PC bulbs or T-5 bulbs?

replacing the pc bulbs for the time being. its going to be a couple of months before i can finish my canopy due to my daughter being on the way. I was looking at several bulbs but wanted to know what actinic to use as there are several options 420nm/460nm etc. which is giong to give me better color over the stock coralife bulbs. I am looking for a bit more blue.

Take a look at UVL bulbs they come in Super actinic, 12000k and 14000K and some different 50/50 combos. Plus they have built in reflector that gets more useable light into the tank. That's what I have and SPS are growing great.
saltycritter.com carries them

Like he said ^ I run the same combo over my 90gal bow. God knows I'd like to move to differnt lighting but the combo looks great and everything is growing and happy. When I first switched to the UVL-R's my purple firefish wouldn't come out of his hole for 3 days. They're that much brighter.
