Talking my 100 litre (26 gal) build

System Objectives:
a nano tank that will keep ongoing costs down as well as maintenance to a minimum
System Type: a mixed reef with a couple of sps frags at the top. if i can keep parameters nice

Display System:
Strike up Date: last few months

Display Tank:.
46x48x48cm

Display Lighting:
150 watt solarmax electronic dimmable ballast with a blumembright mini 150watt double ended reflector
tossing up between 14 and 20k bulb

Stand:
diy by me and my grand father im making it 4 feet long so it can house the sump and gives me room to grow as im likely to want to increase the tank size sooner or later.

Hood:
dont think i will have one may have something so the light doesnt flood the room.

Sump:
3 feet by 16' by 15'
Refugium:
center section of sump

Refugium Lighting:
10 watt led floodlight 6500k

Support systems:

System Water: Natural salt water

Display Water circulation: mp10es

Return Pump: aquamedic oceanrunner 3500lph think im going to have to downsize or put a ball valve to slow the rate of flow will wait till i have it running to decide

Skimmer: just a cheap one for the time being. will upgrade to MARINE SOURCES MS-120-6530 as its footprint is small enough to fit in the the first compartment of the sump.

Evaporation Top Up: manual for the time being. may look at one from guppies

extras there will be 2pc fans running in the hood for air circulation. led strip for moonlight from ebay
resun cl450 chiller.
Chemical Support:
not for the time being
Calcium Addition:

Alkilinity Addition:
Other Chemical Maintenance: Magnesium etc

Current Water Chemistry:
na

how do you add pictures?

That mp10 makes it look super sleek. Are you not going to be adding any sand? That might add a couple of inches.

ok well i have an update to be done. will get photos up tonight. i have a new skimmer a Marine Sources MS 150 - 6530 so big for the tank but will be good when the inevitable upgrade happens. its a machine compared to my old piece of poop jebo skimmer. still have yet to get a new bulb slack on my part though. have a couple of corals now. thats about it for the time being
ok first shot is a little old

this is it right now

and not sure what types of corals these are but i like them

so thats the tank for now getting some zoos tomorrow

Tank is coming along. Just out of curiosity, what are the two lips for at the top of the tank?

Have... you met Ted

well over the last few days between studying, procrastinating on here and uni i built a cover for the tank as i was worried victa might jump to his doom.
i wanted to use the clear nylon bird netting that people in the states use, but was informed you cant get it in australia. so i have used gutter guard. i was a little worried it might block the light to much but it seems fine. just dialled the power up a little to compensate.

Have.... you met ted

got a pair of clowns
and also got two corals a devils finger and a green frogspawn.
and the compulsory fts

Re: Travis's 100l cube. Have..... loads of new corals

big update. well there was an add in the classifieds of a bloke giving away all his corals fish and livestock, so jumped at the chance, to my luck he was only 20 minutes from home. pics say it all. im not a big fan of keeping gonis in home aquaria due to poor survival rates but one was included in his corals, so i will be doing my best to keep it alive.
some of the corals and the nem are annoyed as i was cleaning before the photos

Wow you really planned this out. So many people just throw everything together and they end up with equipment incompatibilities and livestock incompatibilities. Thumbs up here.

its going to be 191 litres, so i think thats about 55 gal.
i was going to go with an internal weir but after much ahming and areing i decided to go external, its going to be rimless with bevelled edges and the front pane of glass will be starfire.

im hoping to have the tank and stand ready for transfer buy the beginning of February.
