Recommendation on circulation pump?
I want to experiment with adding more circulation to my 90g tank but I'm not up for spending the money for an Ecotech Marine just yet. I'm thinking of trying something cheap like a Koralia or Tunze first...
Can anyone recommend a cheap pump that has variable speed? I'm looking at the options but don't see much in between very low and very high end. thanks, Pat |

if you want variable speed, you're going to have to spend some $$ unfortunately. Even the Koralias (with required koralia controller) are going to run you at least $200 or more.
Tunzes aren't cheap either. They're less money in general than Vortechs, although not by much. Tunzes are great pumps. Very reliable, quiet, and they put out a nice broad flow. The cheapest (new) Tunze with Variable control is a 6055 (about $275 new I think?) but you also need a controller like a 7091 with it, and that adds another $50 or so. If you simply want powerheads that can be turned on for a few minutes, then off for a few minutes with a simple controller, you can look at the newer version of the Koralias.
