What ph are lps and softs ok at, i have been told you need to raise the ph slightly, is this correct?

8.0-8.3 ideally. Also...'Raise the pH slightly' .... from what ???

Generally speaking, PH is not something we try to increase or decrease. 7.8-8.2 is considered to be within acceptable range. Drastic swings are the enemy
