well, the 100g tank could be a sump with a built in refugium.

Drain into say the right side. Bubble traps into the sump portion in the middle, where the return pump will be (or bulkhead to external pump). Fuge can go on the lef, and be fed by a T and ball valve on the return pump to control volume into the fuge.

Also, the drain section on the right side can be where the skimmer is. So if you put a skimmer there, you need to either adjust the height of the water level for the skimmer or be prepared to make an acrylic platform for the skimmer.

+1

Always try to put the fuge last and have it fed from the clean return water to keep excess detritus out of there. My sump is set up the same way, just left to right: drain into skimmer section, through bubble trap into return section, then send some of the return flow into the fuge.

Works great.

Is it going to be a sump refuge or just a refuge? If it is just a refuge, then all you need to do is set it up next to your sump. Put a light in it and figure a way to put water in and drain it. You could drill the side close to the top, have a stand pipe, whatever. I would want at least 2 drains in case one got plugged. You could add water to it by using some of the water coming down from the main tank, or have a small pump in the sump.
