what to do with my sixline wrasse

i am thinking about giving away my sixline wrasse. right now he is with 2 clownfish's. but soon i plan on getting a mandarin. and i am worried that the sixline is going to compete with the mandarin for copepods. and end up having no copepods in the tank due to they both eat pods. and have the mandarin die. also i am worried that the sixline is going to bully the mandarin since i heard horror stories about sixline wrasse killing mandarin fish. should i give the sixline away? what are your experiences/suggestions?

if you have worries and know they will compete just get rid of it instead of having 2 fish die.

I have a sixline and a mandarin getting along just fine. The tank is big. How big is yours?

Its a toss up, the sixline and the mardarin could get along just perfectly, and then again they might not. I've owned 2 six lines in the past and never noticed a lot of real aggression from either. That being said, if your going to remove and sell the fish they can be very difficult to catch and you will likely have to remove a lot of rock before you can net it.

yea i was thinking about that after i posted this. that when i do end up selling the fish it is going to be very hard to get it out of the tank. i will most likely have to take out all the rocks to get the fish out

I had a 6 line before and it picked on my clown fish. I just made up a fish catcher box out of a food grade plastic container and placed some pellet food, and after the day was done, it went inside and got lucky. I had to close up the container right away to prevent it from getting out. Good luck!

Just skip the mandarin. Unless you are willing to purchase or culture pods your 55 gallon tank will likely not be large enough to support a mandarin.

It's all a matter of chance and the size of your fuge. I had a sixline and a mandarin together in a 60G tank with a 30G fuge for years, but I was lucky. The sixline I had completely ignored the mandarin, the tank was a great pod producer (better than my current 150G for some reason), and both fish ate mysis as well.
