New cycle

Hello guys,

Im setting up a new tank that is basicaly composed by:
All-in-one 28g JBJ nano-cube LED (contains filter basket with sponge, activated carbon and ceramic rings. Also has a dual accela 1000L/h with wavemaker. The lights are divided at daylight 14k, dawn/dusk and moonlight).
150w via aqua thermostat.
JBJ nano-cube skimmer (pretending to buy a real one soon)
25 lbs of live rock? (I had been seeding the rock for 2 weeks now at a friend's tank, don't know if it is live by now)
75 lbs of ocean direct aragonite live sand (pretending to set up a DSB)
Red Sea Coral Pro natural salt.

I have a very experienced friend and we are going to gather the stuff and set up the tank at the end of the week. What advices can you guys give me? How long should my cycle be before I add some CUC and other livestock? Should I follow just the parameters?

Sorry if it's lacking information, noobie stuff. Thanks.

Yeah you need to go by parameters and daily testing and water changes to be the deciding factor as to when to start adding livestock such as CUC then fish ETC. Time means nothing, say for example, you start out with all new stuff and dry rock with 1 piece of live to seed everything, Longer cycle. I started with 115 pounds of live rock and all live sand from a friends mature tank and cycled water.. I did not have to wait at all!

I forgot to tell that i'm going to use my friend's water from his water change to fill up the tank at first.
Is that good? Will it take less time?

if you are using his water from a water change it will most likely take less time but continue to monitor the parameters and do a few water changes your self before adding stuff!
