My first Saltwater build.
I need it all guys all your experience to pull this off. Right now to stave off Impaence i bought fred henry or what ever im going to name him my beta hehe..
Heres some pictures hope this works out... This is what i picked up for 150 bux on craigslist down the street theres more to it. looks like an older Ocienic Saltwater ready tank predrilled in bottom(goind to take care of that perminatly though) Im showing it dirty and going to start cleaning it this week. Already bought seperate sponges spray bottle and 2 quarts i dono if it matters but it was 1 more white vinegar. A shot of the bottom of the tank drilled unless i can come up with a real reason to use the 2 holes why would they put them in middle of the bottom?? could i plumb with 90 degree back to wall and put overflows there and hide the pipes somehow?? need help here or im just gunna make 2 wiers... and perma seal the holes. Quick shot under the stand the elderly man who sold me this tank that kept saltwater fish for years complained that this stand felt to light for him and him being german and crafty took 1x1 and tottaly reinforced the entire stand and you would either have to take the tank off or be inside the stand to see the work.. Ohh yes there will be a sump!! I will be building it myself. Man shouldnt have stumbled onto Melevsreef.com Cheers Marc (today spent $350 on Router 2 bits, 10" table saw, and a $55 80 tooth blade) Shoe is getting bigger i thinks!! But IM Insane yes!! This is the only thing i found wrong with it.. I dont think its a major concern it was holding water with minnows in it when i first looked at the tank before it bought it.. its a chip from when the old man tore down the old tank and moved downstairs not a crack.. any idea thoughts if structure is going to be an issue? just another shot of stuff put on top.. wow wish i could scale these pictures better for the fourms using image shack makes them way Huge! URL=http://img843.imageshack.us/i/img0460c.jpg/][/URL] This balast is dead or going to die it hums but dose not ignite anymore.. The hood is fine for a 48" bulb with 2 prongs on each end(dono the T lingo yet not the horse shoe kind i know that) if i could find a new balast to use for extra lighting would be great let me know the cord is heavy duty looking probbly best described i wouldnt say 10 gage twisted copper 11 12 maybe.. ok please Blast me Ohh I was at petco today and they had tanks on pallets all over the place 10 20l 20h 40b 55 like 15 each.... the breeders were on a pallet tanks stacked over my head lol.. Petco fish dude told me about $1 gallon sale he said it was a hush hush thing supposed to be for only walkin and local area annoucment sumthing like that.. But he told me to call sunday and check he was the manager.. i cried i spent 350 today but ill pick up 2 40 breeders for possibly isolation most likily will be for mixing up water changing?? at least 1 55 probbly 2 1 for another tank with 100% dyi built stuff experiment. maybe couple smaller ones for curing and isolations. If a mod or someone knows how to keep the pictures from exploding please tell me thanks.. if you read all this i really appreaciate it... Neil

darn, just bought a 20 long last week. Wonder if I have the receipt. I think the $1 thing is nationwide but only for smaller tanks. You might have a special thing going on there.
To Reef Central Edit: found the receipt. It was only 25 bucks on sale from 32 anyway. no big deal... Might pick up a 10 gallon though... and a 5 gallon... and a divorce lawyer for when my wife sees me with more tanks Last edited by Mavrk; 08/27/2010 at 11:36 PM. |

Wouldn't surprise me if they brought the $1/gallon sale back, I think last time only the 40G breeders sold where as the 55G are still stacked like a wall. |
