online order and questions
i would like to order some fish online but as you know the cheapest i could find is free shipping on 140 or more.
i upgraded from a 38 to a 75 like a month ago and all signs are good. my question to you is i would have to order quite a bit of fish i would like to add 10-15 hermit crabs pink spot goby 2 emerald crabs pistol shrimp some type of tang and then some xoas to top off the order price i think this is too much to add at once but with the amonia, nitrates and nitrites reading 0 can i do this and just use water changes to help keep them down? |

Did you use your stuff form the 38 to establish the 75?

yea i used approx 45 lbs of live rock and added another 25 of base rock. used about 30 gallons of water and the same wet dry because i bought it bigger cause i new i was gonna upgrade. so the tanks cycle was about 2 days if that. i have 2 clowns and a bangii cardinal in there now. i just dont want to add too many fish at once to kill my bioload and kill everything in turn. i would like to add a manderin but i dont have a huge cope establishment

I'd wait if I were you. Patience will be your best friend. Let the tank cycle correctly and wait for your diatom and algae bloom. My tank took three months to cycle and about a week to show first signs of ammonia.
I would buy some corals and inverts online but not fish. It would be better if you can look for a good local fish store where you can observe the fish and check their health before you buy. I sometimes travel up to an hour or two and visit saltwater specialty stores just to buy healthy fish. Tangs are very sensitive and can develop deseases such as ich due to stress. The less stress you put your fish through, the less stress they will put you through. Where in NJ do you live? |

That is crazy. My LFS is five minutes away but I go to the fish store 1 hour away for my stuff. Find yourself another fish store. There should be plenty of nice ones in that area.

there are a few but they all seem to be all over the place and i have no idea why. i go to The Hidden Reef in PA and they have a great selection but their prices are either really high or really low. I also love the 14 day live program with most online stores. I know it only takes place for health fish not if they get picked on or not but its better than my LFS that offer nothing and i see dead fish in the stores from time to time

I've never ordered fish online for the same reason Perez said. I've bought inverts and corals with no problems. I would probably wait another couple weeks+ to add the tang.
Nice to see an upgrade! Someday... |
