Which Pump to get ????

i got an HOB 8 Watt Advantage 2000 UV Sterilizer by Aqua Ultraviolet and its currently powered by the pump that goes to the cpr refugium. but it needs more juice. I want it as a clarifier more than a sterilizer.

- Sterilizer Maximum Flow Rate: 642 GPH
- Clarifier Maximum Flow Rate: 1000 GPH

which brand pump would be best? or which one exactly?

I'm not sure the UV is going to do much good at those kind of flow rates. With only an 8 watt bulb, I'd just throw a MJ1200 on it and call it good

ive ran it without it. its a 90 gallon tank, it really helps out with the clarity alot. well IMO. and also does control algae just a bit. its gotta be doing something. maxi jet is only 295 GPH. so i need something bigger with out it being huge if you know what i mean.

are you sure it says 642gph and 1000gph. I would check those numbers again and make sure everything is right. Make sure it's for saltwater not fresh water.

k i figured it out. pump i had was max gph 200 so that means i was destroying planktonic food supply for the reef. but would be good for a fish only just not reef type.

so i do need a pump with 428-642 GPH to have it as a clarifier for the tank.

reeflo seems to be way to much power for what i need, a MAG 5 seems like would be perfect.

+1. It will take little bit more, then 8watt UV to destroy planktonic food supply
