Except that a few hundred years of recording temperatures doesn't count on a global temperature scale. 20,000 years ago some guy probably said "Hey Joe, remember when we were kids and the Mississippi froze solid every year...?"

Don't pretend to be so concerned about the planet while your own personal satisfactions contribute to the reef's demise.

I accept this. Do you?

Current sustainable harvest of reef zones gives the indigenous population income that they would otherwise not have. If they could not provide for there families through harvest and husbandry of the reefs, they would turn to other means ie clear cutting forests, factories, or farming, which would in turn cause much more damage to the oceans. Most collection areas are currently monitored very well. There are lots of articles on the web about this.
Humanity as a whole impacts the earth, and if we don't change our ways we will see greater consequences then we already have.

Porche announced that it is going into production. for the record...but seriously, whether you "feel" that it is anthropogenic or not, there are many things that we all can do to help reduce pollution, make our energy use less dependent on foreign countries, leave a better world for our children, make our economy more viable in the long-term, etc. all at once. I say stop bickering and do something about it!

Does this include the harvesting of live rock? No.

pbmathews: It's difficult to call yourself a tree-hugging conservative and then ask someone to show you the evidence of global warming. If you are a tree-hugger then you will search this information out. It's not like it's hard to find.

The bottom line is that there is overwhelming evidence that man has accelerated the production of greenhouse gas. Further there is overwhelming evidence that greenhouse gasses are effecting our climate. How people can continue to deny these facts thoroughly escapes me. It's like saying cigarettes don't cause cancer....

Good analogy, because in each case, there is/was a large industry that benefitted from the misinformation that it paid to distribute, creating doubt in the science. oil industry in this case largely, but also coal.

A movie called the age of stupid comes to mind when I read people posting about how there is no "proof".
