fungus?
So, after some things died in my tank from killing isopods, it now looks like there's some sort of white fungus on the rocks and now moving to the sand bed? It's white and encrusting (not a sponge) and it's kind of stringy. Any ideas on what it is and how to get rid of it? I've done 3 small W/C's (6 gallons each) this week to start getting the meds out of the tank. Should I do a larger water change to get rid of this stuff? It looks gross. Thanks.

It seems to wispy to be a sponge to me. It's all in a few rocks as well that have had a lot of die-off. I'm worried that all the LR is dieing.

Probably bacterial. But it could be a fungus.

Well I am going to say based on the recent history of your tank its 100% not a sponge, Any sponges would have died when you dosed the cat wormer. Whats your current ammonia?
With out knowing your current parameters I am going to guess that your tank is pretty much nuked due to the high dose of cat wormer, pretty much excpected though. I know you have had alot of die off in the last couple of days so depending on your levels your rock may be dieing as well creating a fungus/mold type of substance. I have seen that white stuff before somewhere but I cant seem to find the link to the specifics. P.s depending on the levels and the amount of meds you think are still in the tank I think a couple of very large water changes are in order. Small water changes are allowing the medication to still sit in the tank just in a smaller dose. If I remember I think you dosed pretty high?

I've seen this before too but I can't think of where. I actually have some sponges still alive. Also still alive are emerald crabs, snails, macroalgae, and some types of worms, feather dusters, ect. I tested parameters a few days ago and this is what I got:
ammonia 0 trites/trates 0 phosphates 0 pH8.2 salinity was VERY high at 1.030 it's down to 1.027 still high but we'll be doing a W/C Tuesday because that's the day the LFS is open. |

I dosed a 120mL bottle of 85% piperazine citrate so yes, it was very concentrated but did the job for $3.00. Losses were expected. I'm guessing this is some fungus or bacteria eating away at dead stuff that I can't suction off of the rocks.

Interesting,
Have you thrown a trap out recently? My only real concern is that anything that should have killed those isopods should have killed those crabs.

I lost what look like a few small stone crabs. I haven't seen my emeralds in a few days so maybe they're gone. We're going to be putting in a trap to see if we get any of them. My worries are that they are eating the dead stuff in the tank and not coming out to the glass in search for food so I'm not seeing any.
