clownfish popeye.. what to do?
My female saddle back clownfish has pretty bad popeye on one eye. I have tried to do some research but there seems to be a lot of opinions. She still eats and acts normally.
Do I do a freshwater dip? Do I just do a waterchange? Thanks. |

When my blue hippo got injured and had a popeye, I took her out and into a QT tank with Meracyn. A type of antibiotic
Do not do a freshwater dip. Don't ever do that unless you read and understand the reasons they are used and exactly how to do one. A water change is always a good idea. If she is still eating, you can try some antibiotic powder in the food and see what happens. If it does not get better, I would suggest a QT tank with treatment. |

my female saddleback has slight popeye in one eye and has had it for almost a year...she also eats and behaves normally and otherwise looks great, she still spawns every 7-9 days
i have looked into it and while my case isn't severe i think feeding and keeping the water in good standing is first priority and putting her in another tank for QT plus taking her away from the male and the anemone might add stress. That's my thought on my fish. when she first got it,i fed her new life spectrum soaked with elos extra vitimans and fed with only her in mind ie. making sure she ate lots regardless what the other fish ate and although it didn't go away it did get a lot better. She also loves loves loves nori and i try to make sure she gets some when i feed the tangs. If she is still eating, you can try some antibiotic powder in the food and see what happens is there products that are reef/community safe?
