ID Help Needed Star and Live Rock

Hey everyone.

Well the Solana has been cycling for about 9 days. All sorts of aiptasia have started up (already have plans for Peppermint Shrimp and Aiptasia-X), but I also have a cool cluster of round growth on the rock. Anyone help ID the round growth in this picture??

Also, check out the little star that suddenly made an appearance on the back wall.

Any help is appreciated.

behind that is one HUGE apstasia or some other kind of anenome...can you get a better pic of it? like a above pic?

I agree with niftyjosh on the first pic the arrow is pointing at some type of polyps. The little star is an asterina star.

Thanks for the quick reply. That anenome is for sure an aiptasia. Will be using aiptasia-x on that one tomorrow. The polyps are cool, but really wanted to try and ID them further. As I am new to this is that star okay to keep along with my future corals/reef?

I have doubts that the anenome is apstasia because of the number of arms, the thickness of the arms, and almost every apstasia Ive had have an almost equal trunk to arm ratio. I mean the arms have been very close to the length of the exposed trunk.

aipt can vary quite a bit. That is an aiptasia. The asterina stars come in harmless varieties, and coral munchers. the majority of tanks seem to have the harmless type, so just let it be for now and let them multiply (they will). The polyps are some kind of zoa/paly. I would just let them color up under proper lighting and prosper. It can take several months to color up, or they may just be brown. Its like getting a can of food without the label. Could be peaches--could be chili. who knows.
