Cycle question

Recently started a new 90 gallon tank. Been setting it up for over a month now and while doing this I started to cycle a 20 gallon tank. I used 2 pieces of shrimp and the cycle has been finished for about a week now. I was planning on adding sand and dry rock to my 90 tonight. If I add everything from the 20 gallon (filter media, sand, 5 pieces of live rock) to the 90, how would I go about cycling now. Will it be safe to add 2 fish or should I put another few pieces of shrimp in there and give it a few more weeks?

If you added the sand and live rock to the 90, it doesn't sound like you will have much. How many lbs of sand do you have? I wouldn't rush it. I am doing to same thing right now. I have a established 26 gallon tank and am cycling a 110 gallon tank.

It will depend on the dry rock. If there are a lot of dried organics on the rock, you will likely have another cycle. If there is a minimal amount of organic material on the rock, you will not see a cycle. Understand that with only 20 lbs of cured live rock, you will initially have very little biological filtration available, so make your livestock additions very slowly.

Should be very little organic material as I cleaned the dry rock thoroughly yesterday. Was only going to add two baby clowns to the tank that a friend has for me. Think I'll just wait another week or so and monitor everything. I assume I will need an ammonia source to keep the bacteria alive? Should I just use shrimp in the 90?

Depends in the fish. I have found that damsels cycle pretty well, but if you have rock in the tank don't get one, because you will never be able to get him out.
