i have a 10 gal sump with 3 chambers first one overflow from tank i have a bag under the overflow and when its new water goes threw the bag ,after a week it comes out of the top of bag should i ditch the bag and put sponge in overflow side

You have a filter sock and it's just plugged with debris from your tank. It's doing it's job and this is totally normal. I have 6+ of these bags that I rotate in and out. When 5 of them get dirty I throw the in the washing machine with just bleach and wash them. You wouldn't want a sock on your system for much over a week anyways. It could become a nitrate trap.

Exactly....the filter sock is pulling junk out so you might as well just swap out twice a week and keep a collection of them. I stockpile mine and do the same as Dalbery.
