Established rock sand and water, will the tank cycle??

Hi,

I just have set up my QT tank today, it is 10 gal.
I have put sand from well established tank, also put maybe 4lb of rock (for now) as well as 10gal of water from my well established 75gal display tank.
I am also using Magnum350 canister filter for this tank, previously used on my display tank, but it was while ago therefore ill say its the only thing that will need to establish beneficial bacteria.
My question is, will my QT tank go to regular cycle/mini cycle?

Thakns for any comments/suggestions..

you probably will not get an ammonia cycle which imo you are really asking. You have bacteria

as for cycling of bacteria--it is a life long process. Everytime you increase the bioload as for eg in adding a fish the bacteria will cycle to meet the new demand. After the demand is met the bacteria will drop off their numbers.

I agree that there shouldn't be much of a cycle. Wouldn't worry too much about it.

You won't see much of a cycle. I would feel safe saying you don't even need to a wait any period of time either. If the tank is sitting empty there is nothing in it to add to the bioload and create a cycle even if the tank were going to experience one.

Hi,
Here is my 10gal 2 months later, seems like everything grows nicely under 40W of LEDs, frogspawn has grown from 4 heads to 10. So far so good..

that is really good growth with the frog spawn--well done
curious --how many led lights make up 40 watts

since it is only 10 gal, i went with 2 20watts LEDs, 1 white (7000k) and 1 blue (460-470nm), seems like the corals are pretty happy, i also have chalice in there and that seems to grow as well..
