Murder or Mushroom on the Move???

Hope everyone is having an awesome Monday...

SO, I just added my clean-up crew on Saturday and everything seems to be going fine. I got a dozen nassarius snails, about a dozen assorted astreas, turbos, ceriths, and nerites, a tiger conch, and an emerald crab. Aside from one nassarius that didn't make it and one cerith that might not, and one little baby nassarius who seems hopelessly lost on a piece of rock and can't seem to find the sand, everyone seems happy. The Emerald crab has been munching non-stop on a little patch of bubble algae since the instant he hit the water.

I have a piece of live rock that came with a couple of little purple mushrooms and a few Green Star Polyps hitch hiking on it. The GSP has multiplied to completely cover the rock over the last month while I have been cycling. It seemed to leave little holes around the mushrooms, but I could tell the mushrooms might not be too happy with the land grab.

Today when I got home from work, I noticed one of the mushrooms is not on the rock any more and is laying instead on the sandbed. The lights just now came on so I'm not sure if he will puff up but he is terribly shriveled right now.

I know these guys move sometimes, but like that? Do you think someone cut him off? Do you think he got mad about the GSP and bailed? I'm not too sad to lose this one little mushroom, I just want to know if someone in my tank is cutting up coral. Should I put him back on a rock somewhere?

Here's a pic of the rock. The shroom on the right is the one that's not there anymore.

Well, after a couple hours under the lights, he's puffed back up. Looks like he thinks he found a new home.

My guess is that something in the tank loosened the mushroom from its mooring. Take a look in the tank at night with a red light to see if you have any previously unknown critteres.

How big is your tank? Thats a pretty big CUC that you have there.
Look at where the shroom used to be. Is there any piece of the foot left behind? It might have either naturally fragged, or maybe one of your crabs pinched it off. Is any part of the disc injured? If not, then it might have naturally fragged.
