Rally Liquid for Ich?? Single White Spot on Yellow Tang
Okay, I don't have a Quarantine Tank and will set up one soon. I just noticed a single white spot on the fin on the left side of the Yellow Tang. I haven't seen him biting much algae off the rocks latey because I haven't paid REAL close attention, but today when I fed the Clowns, he ate the fish smelling food they usually eat (called Spectrum Marine Fish Formula from New Life). He seems active and swims well. I didn't notice the white spot when I bought him and it's possible he had it then. Will the Rally Liquid product the LFS is peddling help? I'm not real big on taking medicine myself or dumping chemicals in the tank.

Lots of equipment left over from the 140 gallon tank teardown. Oct 21st was a sad day. Wife said I would have to get a new wife to get a new tank. I'm sure gonna miss the wife. Current Tank Info: No tank, no fish, no coral :( |

What's Rally Liquid? I googled it, and the only thing I found was anti bacterial. Marine Ich is not bacterial. It is Cryptocaryon irritans, a protozoan parasite. Anyway, one white spot does not an Ich make. Keep an eye on the fish, and see if he develops more spots or starts showing more symptoms.

+1 with palting. However I'm not convinced that what you explained is ick. Can you post a picture of this white spot? It may be a lymphocystis.

Keep an eye on it and don't do any thing yet. As long as it is still eating and swimming normal, the fish will be OK. Please do NOT panic and remove your fish at this time. I know many here will tell you do exactly that and many more will tell you not to. Ich is NOT a death sentence and those that tell you it is are wrong. I'm not saying it can't kill a fish, but I think chasing around it around a tank with a net and stressing it out kills more fish than ich will in an otherwise healthy fish.
