This wrasse is on crack!

My six line wrasse has started acting weird today. Buzzing wildly around the tank in endless circles. We're used to seeing him swim in & out of the live rock but this Is something else. Yesterday I found one of our feather dusters ripped of half of his "feathes" & now the wrasse is CRACKED OUT! Any ideas...?

The wrasse picked off half the feather duster's feathers? That's common I believe. Is he chasing his reflection? Do you see any signs of a parasite?

did you do a water change abrubtly? maybe the water temp is lower, or the salinity was off in the water? ive seen fish act like you explaned in those conditions.

I can't see any parasites and he's calmed down now. I did a water change yesterday, but I have been messing with the sump set up & let the temp drop a couple degrees though. Thanks for the ideas!

Is it common that he would only pick on one of the dusters?

I didn't think 6-lines picked on featherdusters. their diet consists of mainly crustaceans. that being said, you never know what an individual fish will do. what other fish do you have in your tank? maybe someone else is picking on the duster. I would keep an eye out for parasites because of the strange behavior from the wrasse.

I had a six-line one time that would do the same thing. These fish are probably the goofiest and kookiest fish I have ever seen/owned. Mine would do somersaults after getting fed rods food lol.

lol patience is a virtue my friend! Some people don't like the six-lines because they are known to bully smaller slower moving more peaceful bottom dwelling fish. Mine was a model citizen granted I had him in a 125. The way he would move in and out of the rocks stop and pause to look at me **** his eyes one way to take a look at me and then zip! He'd be gone in a flash only to reapear inches away, but two rocks down cocking his head to the side and looking at me like nanny nan a boo boo!
